Yes, the pigs are self-serving, exploiting the animals under them for their own benefit with no consciense or second thought, but also the chicken is literally "self-serving", with all she has to give to the system, from what she produces all the way down to being plucked and ready for market herself, if need be. Both server and served. A loyal serf working against her own best interests.
